A bright and bubbly girl, Manny is always there to lend a hand. Manny is depicted as an only child, though in one episode of Degrassi she claims she has a brother. However, we've never seen him on the show. Manny's parents migrated to Canada sometime during the 1980's and she is named for the Filipno town they left.
Manny gets herself into scrapes and she can normally count on her best friend Emma Nelson to get her out of them. Manny and Emma are close as can be, until Manny decides she wants to be a cheerleader. She takes a stand against Emma and helps the older girls in school keep a Spirit Squad. They eventually become friends again. Manny plays matchmaker for Emma, getting her hooked up with Sean Cameron.
In Season two, Manny meets Craig Manning and develops a crush on him. It seems the feelings are returned until they share a date...and Craig deems her too immature for his likes. Manny continues on, and in the third season decides to "hot herself up" by wearing skimpy shirts, low cut jeans and thongs to school. Manny believes this attention to be positive despite her friends' protests. It catches the eye of Sully, who becomes her boyfriend for a while
Eventually, Manny hooks up with Craig for most of season 3. When they break up she develops a bad reputation and has a low point for a while, and even her friendship with Emma has suffered greatly. Manny discovers she's pregnant. Craig wants to keep the baby and raise a family, but Manny decides that's not for her. She aborts and ends their relationship.
Craig and Manny don't hook back up until the fifth season. Manny's grown up a bit, and has taken it easy on the sexy clothing. She now wants to be an actress and will do so at any cost, even thinking about getting a boob job. When the new boy at school films her topless, she and Craig meet up again and start dating. They date through most of the season and even after Craig leaves to record music in Vancouver.
When he returns, Manny notices the new changes and doesn't like it at all. She is also jealous of Ellie Nash, who has developed feelings for Craig. When Craig is caught doing Cocaine and won't give it up for her, Manny breaks up with him. She goes on to university and acting and so far the two haven't had a scene in a long time.
